What does Advanced Linked Issues & Traceability do?
It adds two main capabilities to YouTrack:
- a richer linked-issue workspace on the issue page
- a traceability matrix in the main menu for cross-scope relationship analysis
Does it work only on issue pages?
No. The issue panel is one part of the product. The traceability matrix is available from the YouTrack main menu.
Is there a free plan?
No. The current lifecycle offers a 14-day free trial and then requires an active paid subscription.
Configuration
Can I define defaults for the whole instance?
Yes. Administrators configure installation-wide defaults in the admin view.
Can one project override the global setup?
Yes. Project settings can either inherit the global defaults or store a project-specific override.
Which settings can be overridden?
Projects can override:
- grouped vs flat linked-issue layout
- visible link types
- nested linked issues
- completion progress bar
- visible columns
- inline edit support
- aggregate-enabled fields
- default aggregate function
Issue Panel
What is the difference between grouped and flat view?
- Grouped separates linked issues into sections by relation type
- Flat shows one table and includes the relation label inline in the first column
Can I edit linked issues directly in the panel?
Yes, for fields that are enabled for inline editing and supported by the app.
How deep can nested linked issues go?
Nested linked issues currently expand up to two levels deep.
Why do I still see some fields as read-only?
The field may:
- not be enabled for inline editing
- not be supported for inline editing
- be restricted by your YouTrack permissions
What does the aggregation row calculate?
For aggregate-enabled numeric and period fields, the panel can calculate:
- sum
- average
- min
- max
- median
Traceability Reports
Which scope types are supported on the X and Y axes?
Both axes support:
- project
- query
- saved query
- assignee
- reporter
- agile
- tag
Can I save reports?
Yes. The product supports:
- the built-in Default report
- Private reports
- Shared reports
Do saved reports reopen automatically?
Yes. Selecting a saved report automatically restores its setup and runs it immediately.
Why are link types split into labels like "parent for" and "subtask of"?
Because the matrix is directional. The filter shows the exact directional relation labels that can appear in cells.
Why is a relation sometimes visible only in one cell?
The matrix is directional, not mirrored. A single relationship appears in the cell that matches its stored direction.
Can I create and delete links from the matrix?
Yes. Click a cell to open the Manage links popup and create or remove relationships directly there.
Can I export the report?
Yes. Traceability reports support:
- CSV
- XLSX
Subscription and Licensing
Is there a free trial?
Yes. The app offers a 14-day free trial.
Do you support offline or air-gapped installations?
Yes. Offline activation is supported for on-premise or restricted-network environments. Contact support@appfero.com.
What happens when the subscription expires?
The interactive app views are blocked until the installation is reactivated, but administrators can still access the lifecycle controls needed to restore access.
